GOOD READ!

Much flap everywhere about Romney calling ‘Obamacare’ a TAXI say, GOOD!  At least it is honest. By the way, the word TAX and Obamacare are connected because the Supreme Court said they were, and further, that it was within Obama’s rights to establish such a tax, and furthermore that the IRS would collect it.

Nevada, Florida, South Dakota and four other states do not levy income taxes. That doesn’t mean these states don’t tax, just not on the I word. It can actually cost more to live there because they have higher sales, property and other assorted taxes which cost more than an income tax would.   http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/incometaxandtheirs/a/nostatetax.htm. Still, population in the states without anything CALLED an income tax  grew the fastest, so words do count.

I for one am happy Obamacare is officially a ‘tax’ because taxes are how societies pay for things. There are taxes for things people want and taxes for things that people may not individually desire but which others think they should be willing to chip in to cover. The first taxes were on cooking oil in Egypt. The tax collectors, called ‘scribes’, went door to door to make sure people were not cheating with the sheep tallow. The Greeks taxed everyone to fund wars and when the wars were over they rescinded the tax. (Those Greeks. Already off the reservation…)
