Qualified charitable distributions, (QCDs) from one’s Individual Retirement Account (IRA) provide an option to meet the required minimum distribution (RMD) while avoiding income tax for 2011.
This charitable giving and financial planning strategy was extended through 2011 with The Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010. This provision applies only to IRAs and not other retirement plans.
